Licensed child care & preschool
A positive, structured, safe and stimulating program in Kennebunk that welcomes all children and families, because young children learn best through play.
It takes many big hearts to shape a little mind.
Our approach
Children learn through all their senses and by watching the people around them. We teach play as a skill, and we build our day around how children actually grow.
A schedule that bends. Every classroom posts a daily schedule fitted to its age group. Activities are set up ahead of time so nobody waits around, and teachers stretch a project that's working or wrap up early when interest fades.
Children choose how to join in. Activities grow out of children's interests and the goals parents and teachers set together. Kids are encouraged to take part but can move freely, and some prefer their own space. The only things the whole group does together are lunch and nap.
Learning all day long. At circle time, playing with a friend, or just watching what's happening, children are learning. We aim to build curiosity, independence, teamwork and kindness across five areas of development:
Education Stations
Ordinary classrooms can overwhelm little ones: toys get dumped together, play is interrupted, and kids get frustrated. Our classrooms are divided into themed zones instead.
Open bins at child height hold only what belongs in that zone, so kids can clean up on their own.
Half walls keep distractions out while leaving room for friends doing the same thing.
A block tower can stay standing while its builder takes a break.
Children go from zone to zone on their own instead of moving as a herd.
Quiet corners can be dimmed; busy zones like the kitchen stay bright.
The open front of each station means teachers can see every child.
Classrooms
Each classroom serves one age group and is set up for the way children that age learn. Every move up starts a new portfolio.
Calm, cozy rooms that follow your baby's own rhythm for feeding, naps and play.
The classroom where Education Stations began. Toddlers build independence with music, movement and lots of outside time.
Hands-on projects, circle time and weekly themes guided by Maine's early learning standards, to get children ready for school.
Partnership with families
Kindness and a real partnership between home and school are at the heart of what we do.
Notes from teachers during the day, plus diapers, potty, meals and activities at the end of it.
Art, observations, basic assessments and photos, collected in each classroom and yours to keep.
Sit down with your child's teacher to review their portfolio and progress, or book a meeting anytime.
Monthly calendars and newsletters in Brightwheel. Paper copies are always available.
Quick updates at drop-off and pick-up. Busy times can be short, so we're happy to follow up.
Teachers have the most time to talk while the children nap.
Enrollment
The best way to know if we're the right fit is to visit. Here's how enrollment works.
